Just a few days...
We only have 3 days until the March break...wooohooo!
However, we need to finish the mythology unit by Friday. You will need to complete three different myths. I will collect them on Friday and that will be the last day to hand them in. They will be marked over the break.
If everyone is finished by Friday, then we can read Skeleton Creek and watch the videos on the last day before the holiday. P.S. I have Ms. Friesen and I will provide a treat on Friday for all your hard work in the library.

No Homework
Today was amazing! I love love loved that movie. You should be proud of how you conducted yourselves today. Everyone was great, the noise level on the bus was quiet and everyone was quiet while we watched the movie. This movie was a great introduction to our next unit, which is on Mythology.

homework and more
There is no homework for math....I want to play with the manipulatives in class and do the textbook work together. We will continue to play tomorrow.
I want you to read "Freak the Mighty" at home on your own. I will give some class time for this also.
Reminder: anyone who needs help in math should ask me for the mathsheets from the Student Workbook. These worksheets offer additional explainations on how to do the math and offer extra practice. I am also available to give you extra help most mornings and some after school time. Please arrange the time with me in advance. It's amazing how much it helps to sit with me and just work one-on-one. Some students in our class have gone from 40% to 80% on a test.

Not sure who won the contest but it was a girl in Grade 7. We miss you too. You're allowed to "eat" gum in class...how horrible of your teacher to make you eat gum! There is a old-wives tale that says if you swallow gum, it'll stay inside you for 7 years. Perhaps you could just chew the gum. hehehe

Essay
The essay is due a week Friday. The subject is Haiti. For those of you who were at school on Tuesday, I think the theme is very clear. We discussed a possible thesis. I can provide you with the videos we watched if you were absent. It is really important to attend school every day. I realize that you may be unable to attend due to sports events or illnesses, but some of you must make a better effort to attend school on an everyday basis to ensure you don't miss valuable instructional time.
